Our traditional Bed and Breakfast, established in 2012, is unique, welcoming and rural. It is a lovely drive along the eastern shore of the beautiful Bras d’Or Lake to reach our Cape Breton Accommodations. Located in the heart of Cape Breton we are conveniently located between Baddeck, NS and Sydney, NS. Cape Breton treasures like The Cabot Trail and the Fortress of Louisbourg are not far away!
Our quiet farm is the perfect place to relax, delight in the sunset, and recharge for your next day of exploring Cape Breton Island.

The Gammell Suite

The Gammell Suite, located on the second floor, has two bedrooms and a private bath. Sunset Room - queen sized bed, bath towels, bath robes, overlooks the Bras d'Or Lake The Farmstead Room - queen sized bed, closet, bath towels, bath robes, overlooks the farm. Private Bath - original clawfoot tub with shower, extra towels, shampoo and conditioner. Complimentary guest soaps are from Groovy Goat Farm & Soap Company.

Common Areas

The Screened-In Front porch serves as the Guests’ Private Entrance. In the house, guests have exclusive access to the Sitting/Breakfast Room, the TV Room, and the Screened-In Front Porch and the Cookshack (use of Cookshack based availability.) The only shared spaces are outdoors – the firepit, the Sunset Viewing Platform, the walking trails, and the backyard pond area.

Breakfast

We serve a full breakfast between 8am – 9:30am (you pick the time!). Enjoy an easy start to the day. Your choice of Tea or Coffee is served 30 minutes before breakfast. Breakfast begins with our "Crisp of the Day" followed by the the main course which includes homemade baked beans and Terri's Roasted Rosemary Breakfast Potatoes. Please let us know if you prefer a simpler breakfast or have food allergies/insensitivities. Love the coffee? We have it for sale here at the Bed and Breakfast.

The Off-Grid Trailer Rental

Seaweed and Sod Farm has an off-grid trailer for rent. Situated in our back-field. This 19′ trailer has a breathtaking view of the farm and Bras d’Or Lake. Our isolated farm is the perfect place to relax, delight in the sunset, and recharge for your next day of exploring Cape Breton Island.

• We are also a Certified “Clean It Right” accommodation.

• Rest assured, you will have exclusive use of the trailer during your stay.

• Your Hosts will be masked when interacting with you.

• We have implemented a Contactless Check-In/Check-Out protocol.
