Common Questions

Yes, we do! We are certified “Clean it Right” and we follow Nova Scotia Bed and Breakfast Association (NSBBA) industry-wide enhanced cleaning guidelines.

In addition to the livestock, we have dogs and cats on our farm and in our home. Well behaved dogs are welcome. They must be leashed when outside.

We can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. Please let us know when you make your reservation.

We were a licensed B&B until 2020. In 2020 the Nova Scotia legislation changed, and Bed and Breakfasts were no longer required to be licensed. Instead, B&Bs were given the option to voluntarily register with the Province. Seaweed and Sod Farm chose to register as it helps to maintain our professional standing in the tourism industry as well as a listing on NovaScotia.com and cbisland.com. We are members of the Nova Scotia Bed and Breakfast Association, Canada Select, Nova Scotia Approved, and TIANS (Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia).

Check in is between 4pm and 8pm. A later check-in time can be arranged, if necessary.

There are two restaurants on highway 105 just east of our exit (#13). The Cedar House is just beyond the exit and Fitzgerald’s Restaurant (our personal favourite) is about 1 minute further.

The 1409 and Jane’s Restaurant are both in Little Bras d’Or (30 minutes).

The closest gas stations are in Baddeck (45 minutes) and Little Bras d’Or (30 minutes).

We are 35 minutes from the English Town Ferry and the start of the Cabot Trail, all of which is magnificent scenic driving.

We are a scenic 45 minute drive from Baddeck.

We are a 50 minute drive from Sydney.

Take Exit #13 off the Trans Canada Hwy 105 (from either Baddeck or Sydney) and travel 22 km (about 20 minutes) up the Kempt Head Rd (the last 4 km are gravel). We are on the left-hand side. Please stay to the left of the house as you come up the driveway.

I'm sure we can accommodate you.
